I have a new project.
This weekend I traveled up to Lancashire to checkout a 1955 Oval Vert with Larry, Kelly and my mate Lee in his Crown Victoria station wagen.
I only had 5 very poor quality pictures to go on and the owner had told me the car was going to need a full resto but included lots of spares.
When we arrived we were nicely supprised at just how solid the car was and the amount of parts that were to be included in the sale
Nice! The clock is in a box
It pretty solid but will need a fare amount of welding
Spares Included in the sale
Complete 50's engine, 2x complete front beams, 2x gearbox, NOS bumpers + overriders, NOS chrome trim set, NOS door handles with keys, 2x pair of NOS headlights, lots of boxes of other stuff and finally a spare complete rear seat and front and rear cabrio only glass
Needless to say I was chuffed and Larry was quite excited.
After haggling a little on the price I got the whole lot for very nice price
Luckily we went up in the station wagen as even that was stacked high with parts for the return journey.
So after my wedding in July its going to be full steam ahead _________________

Nice find, looks like you have most of the Cabriolet-only pieces with it, which is a big plus.
Good luck with the project (I'm still struggling with my late model).. |

Its a f'kin awesome car! I was gobsmacked how solid it is!
For the price it was advertised for, I was expecting it to be a complete rotbox needing nearly all panels..! All the stuff it comes with is a massive bonus!
It still needs a fair bit of welding, but nowhere near as much as I imagined!
It certainly was bargin of the century.. ten times over!
If Mike decided it wasn't for him,. I was ready to bite the guy's arm off!
Its gonna be awesome when done! _________________ Retro Custom

That's what was the huge attraction to it - Its 99% complete and Mike now has two of most of the rare parts!
Looking through the huge parts stash which came with it, the majority of the stuff was bought in the late 60's/ early 70's and from VW dealerships due to the ID tags. _________________ Retro Custom

Excellent news indeed!!
That's going to be one very sweet ride! As you say....bargin of the century.....and looks like just the sort of project you wanted....rather than buying something that was pretty much already done.
So... Volksworld next year then?!? |

Are you going to replace the hood?
Nice find Mike, are you giving yourself a deadline for the resto - or are you just going to do it as and when? _________________

I can't even imagine what it will look like completed .
My hat is tipped to you guys who find these cars in that condition and have the time, patience, knowledge and most importantly vision to see it through to an end product.
I can't wait to read the rebuild thread _________________ Orange is the new Yellow. |
